St Vincent de Paul

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW | Broken Hill City Council

The St Vincent de Paul Society is committed to serving people in need in our community. Our mission, vision, values and aspiration guide our work.

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy, and to bring about a more just and compassionate society.

The Society aspires to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering "a hand up" to people in need. We do this by respecting every person's human dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

Our Key Values

Our advocacy work and support services are guided by seven key values:

Loyalty in service to our mission, vision and values.

Welcoming and serving all with understanding and without judgement.

Service to all regardless of creed, ethnic or social background, health, gender or political opinions.

Promoting, maintaining and adhering to our mission, vision and values.

Establishing relationships based on respect, trust, friendship and perception.

Working to transform the causes of poverty and challenging the causes of human injustice.

Encouraging spiritual growth, welcoming innovation and giving hope for the future.

Australia - Caritas

The Caritas Australia Mission

Who we are and what drives us

We are the Catholic Church's international aid and development agency in Australia. We are committed to working alongside the most vulnerable and addressing the imbalance of power by including the people affected in the decisions impacting their lives.

Our Inspiration

We are inspired by the Gospel which finds its expression in Catholic Social Traditions.

Jesus returned as a young adult to his home town of Nazareth (Luke 4: 16-30). He had just returned from forty days in the desert, a time of encounter with both darkness and light. He chose light. Coming home, he knew this meant a fresh way of understanding himself and the world. He was to be an agent for change, for loving relationships. He had a vision of freedom. It is a vision we share, one of justice, dignity and hope, and is deeply rooted in everything we do, including the Caritas Australia mission.

Our Vision

Justice, dignity and hope for humanity and all of God’s creation.

Our Mission

The Caritas Australia mission is to work in partnership with communities in Australia and overseas to achieve their development goals and thrive, keeping in the spirit of the Gospel.
